Tachosoft mileage calculator provides a mileage calculations and mileage pattern for each car made/model, to show the location (addresses) of the mileage bytes on the dump file which can be read from the instrument cluster by using serial programmer, such as (UPA-USB, X-Prog, or any other serial programmers), after reading the dump file from the right EEPROM or MCU , open the tachosoft calculator and select the correct car made/model/year from the vehicles menu, by selecting the right car, you will see mileage pattern for the instrument cluster of this car as shown on the below example:

Now mileage bytes locations can be found on the dump file according to the above shown pattern, next step is to enter the new mileage value to tachosoft calculator as shown below, then click calculate to see the new mileage bytes on the right hand small window, you need to replace the old mileage bytes on your original dump files by those new shown bytes that will appear on the small right hand window as shown below:

Useful tips:

1. In case if mileage is written down in eeprom, and on the PCB there are more than one of the same type it is necessary to search for that which is more close to the display or the microprocessor.

2. Some chips have protection against reading, please use programmers which are able to bypass this protection.

3. After you have read dump from a memory chip please look on its content. If there are only zero's or FF's it means the dumps is wrong readed.

4. After reading the chip ALWAYS make a backup dump file.

5. Try to write recalibrated dump into new chip, so you will always have original chip for backup.

6. Before changing the mileage, count on the calculator original mileage and compare it to that which it is written down in original dump.

7.1 Probably, it is necessary to change senior and younger bytes (to make SWAP) Example: ABCD -> CDAB

7.2 As the rule, mileage calculation methods are trade secret's of dash manufacturers, so the algorithms presented here are formulas calculated personally by us, and sometimes they have accuracy of + - 250km (miles). It is not essential in calibration, but you must consider this fact when comparing original and calculated mileage values.

7.3 Dash manufacturer can sometimes change offset's where mileage is stored in the memory chip, so in case of discrepancies please look all dump entirely.
